About

Fairlawn Farm Livery Yard

As a space our farm has heaps of history and we retain many of the original farm buildings. The Farm was built in 1877 to sustain the Middlesex and Surrey mental asylum, you can learn more about its background here http://www.ezitis.myzen.co.uk/banstead.html  . As a family we are proud to say we have now been custodians of the land for four generations. There has been a livery yard here since the 1980’s, when, like many farms we diversified to supplement income. My mother was a keen horsewoman and I have grown up around these beautiful animals. My children and niece have now taken up riding as their hobbies and I have once again taken to the saddle after a long pause.

We like to think of the space as a little bit of green paradise in suburbia and as such are working towards encouraging as much wildlife diversity as possible by trying, where possible, to lower our carbon footprint and provide habitat with hedgerows. We are also hoping to look at renewable energy sources and rainwater harvest as part of our longer-term plans.
As a yard we have worked hard to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that clients of all ages and abilities can enjoy. We are not a top competition livery yard by any means but welcome everyone from those with rescued retired and non-ridden horses to happy hackers, pony club children and those who are more serious and like to compete. As such there is usually someone around to help and offer support and encouragement. Whilst we are a child friendly space and welcome well behaved and supervised children, we do only have limited spaces offered to children as it is lovely to have a real mixture of ages and adults are important too!
We offer a fully flexible service to help support you no matter what is happening in your life. This means that our price list is complicated as everything is individually priced, if you would like to arrange an appointment to view, I would be more than happy to run through prices with you and discuss your requirements at this time. Part livery options are available from 4 days upwards the prices are bespoke depending on your feed, forage, and bedding requirements. We are unable to offer you a stable without meeting you first.
